Calculators aren't provided at the test centers, and you're not able to give away a calculator.
Quick Facts
- Only the calculators mentioned on this webpage are acceptable to be used for the Math Test, Calculator portion of the test.
- It is not permitted to use a calculator when you are working on portions of the Reading, Writing and Language or Math Test--No Calculator sections. You must remove the calculator away during these portions in the tests.
- You'll be ejected and your test scores cancelled when you use your calculator to communicate information during the exam, or to remove questions or the answers from the testing room.
Calculator Smarts
- Bring your own calculator. You shouldn't share one.
- Don't bring a brand-new calculator. Bring one you're comfortable with. Learn to take the test using the same calculator you'll be using on test day.
- It's important to note that the Math Test includes some questions that require you to employ the calculator even if you're allowed to.
- It might be helpful to complete scratch work in the test book. You can write down your thoughts using your calculator.
- Make sure that your calculator is in functioning order and that the batteries are not expired. The test center doesn't supply extra calculators or batteries. If your calculator fails during testing and you do not have a backup it will be necessary to pass the test without it.

Calculators are only permitted for the Subject Tests for Mathematics. Read the guidelines and rules.
Acceptable Calculators
If you have one of these calculator with characters 1 inch or more, or if your calculator has a display with a raised top that may be visible other test takers, you'll be assigned a seat at the discretion of the test coordinator.
Only handheld devices powered by batteries is allowed for testing. The use of power cords is not allowed.
Calculators which are permitted during testing are:
- The majority of are graphing calculators (see chart)
- All scientific calculators
- Calculators with four function. (not advised)

Unacceptable Calculators
You are not allowed to make use of the following items as a calculator:
- Laptops or other computers, tablets, mobile phones smartwatches, or wearable technology
- Models that connect to the Internet are equipped with wireless, Bluetooth, cellular, audio/video recording and playing camera, or other features of a smartphone.
- Models that have a computer-style (QWERTY) keypad pen input, pen input, or stylus
- Models that make use of electrical outlets, make noise or even have a paper tape
- In addition, the usage of hardware peripherals such as stylus that is compatible with a calculator is not allowed. Some models with touchscreen capability are not allowed (e.g., Casio ClassPad).
